Little evaluation
At the beginning of the project I was probably the most
excited I’ve been for a project so far in my time at the college and it
remained that way until I had to start taking short cuts to get the project
completed. I think I was a bit ambitious when I proposed what I wanted to do to
my tutor. Doing a 160 mile journey in a month and a half while I have other
projects and work commitments wasn’t going to work out the way I wanted it to,
no matter how much I planned my time. Even though it didn’t entirely go to plan
I did come out with some good images that will benefit my portfolio.
As this was my first attempt at a photobook my research was
obviously focused on how my images are presented and what methods are available
to me to help me achieve my goals, rather than look at photographer images
only. I think my research was successful, as I was able to go about this part
of the project with ease and was able to create a decent quality product. Is I
mentioned earlier the hardest part was getting all the images done before I had
to start to pull things together, but at least I know for next time, to do
something challenging but achievable.
So now I’m looking back on the project there would be a few
drastic things I would change, such as the scope of the project idea. I would do
a journey around the well-known places of the Lake District or compared the
west coast to the east coast through a journey of landmarks, something along
those lines, still based around weather and landscape.
